Hydroforming is an efficient, cost-effective way to form strong components and custom tools. Using a sheet hydroform tool is an effective way to reduce waste, and it is the preferred technique for companies using ductile metals to shape parts and components.
Unlike other processes, hydroforming is fast and one of the best options to reduce waste and save money. It uses pressurized hydraulic fluids to create metal components. A flat metal disc will be placed under a mechanically driven mandrel. Fluid or oil is pumped into a chamber behind the rubber diaphragm, causing the metal to draw until it reaches the shape of the mandrel. The metal is formed quickly and can be removed once it has taken shape. Concave shapes can be created with this process, but may require secondary finishing.
